Let me introduce myself: I’m Bekki, a 20-something year-old who works in marketing and lives in the homeland of Greggs. For all of you non-pasty enthusiasts, firstly – shame on you – and secondly, my hometown can be found on a map by looking up ‘Newcastle Upon Tyne’.
When I’m not shaming people’s knowledge of sausage rolls, you’ll most likely find me exploring the coastline, talking about how much money I saved on X at ALDI or racking up a big food bill with the money I saved. Because life is about balance people.
What is ‘What Bekki Did’ About?
I’m afraid there’ll be no brownie points if you can guess what this blog is about – it really is what it says on the tin. Here I write about all of the shenanigans I get up in Newcastle, and beyond.
As someone who has (and wants) to remain in a full-time job but without giving up her inner travel blog, I created this little corner of the Internet as a means of showing you that you can do both. It’s just about balance. And finding the best of the ordinary and the everyday.
What to expect here
Throughout this blog, you’ll most likely find:
- Geordie Land Guides – When I’m not on holiday, you’ll still find me exploring the toon and beyond. Here you’ll find recommendations for everything from restaurants to outdoor activities. Expect lots of coffee shops reviews – I love an oat latte so much so that I actually had a feature on the BBC where I spoke about my love for oat milk. Yep, you read that right.
- Travel Guides – Sometime this girl goes global (but only when her bank balance allows it). Here you’ll find all of my international guides – which includes everything from Berlin to Morocco.
- Think pieces – just the odd one for good measure. I’m a big believer of being honest! Although these posts are few and far between, they’re my favourite as writing helps me understand things a little better.
Who I’ve Worked With
I have, however, recently started with more local and independent businesses, which includes the wonderful restaurant Olive’s at the Station.
